Replace combi boiler.First off, Tommy is a one man band, so you know it will be Tommy that turns up to do the job. Tommy arrived on time and laid 'stick-on' plastic covers over the carpet areas before starting any work. He explained the scope of the work in detail and answered all questions. I am quite fussy and interfering when any work is being carried out in my house, but Tommy was happy to put up with my constant hovering and to give a running commentary on his work all the way through the installation. Briefly, the job entailed removing the existing 15 year old Baxi Combi boiler and replacing it with a new Baxi Combi boiler, including new flue and condensation pump. Tommy supplied all of the new items including the boiler. As part of the installation, Tommy also reviewed the entire system and brought everything in line with current legislation. The job took one and a half days. One word of warning though, don’t ask Tommy any questions unless you are prepared for a marathon explanation. Also, as part of any preparation on your behalf, I can tell you that Tommy is quite partial to mince pie and angel cake. In conclusion, I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome and the overall experience. I would definitely recommend Tommy if you are looking for a boiler installation.

Repair to combi boiler.Rang Tommy Burns on Monday morning as my combi boiler had broken down. he came out at 5.00pm and dismantled the boiler casing and began checking for faults. He identified that the fan unit had stopped working. he said he would get the replacement part and fit it at around the same time the following day. true to his word he turned up at 5.oopm the following day and fitted the replacement fan and serviced and cleaned the boiler. Repair to the underfloor heating, including investigating why it was not working and then carrying out the necessary repair.I have used Tommy on previous occasions, and as usual he was extremely prompt in replying to my request to come and diagnose a problem with my underfloor heating which had suddenly stopped working. He found time to come out later that day to diagnose the problem. He quickly worked through the system and identified the problem to be a broken pump. He sourced the part and got back to me first thing the next morning and was available to call out later in the day to undertake the fitting of the new part. This was done successfully, his diagnosis had been correct and the underfloor heating was successfully repaired. New boiler installation - very impressed .

Got Tommy's name from Checked and Vetted to do a service to our very old boiler. Following his professional attitude, we asked him to quote us for a new boiler. The price was very competitive and we went ahead. He also managed to fit us in quickly as we have a new baby in the house and were without constant heat and water. He arrived bang on 9:00am on the day and was finished by 4:30pm. Very clean job with a professional finish. The boiler is in a different class to the last one we had and we're now enjoying toasty-hot water, with more pressure for baths, showers and dishes - as well as a lovely warm house. Replacement of water pump on Vaillant boiler.

Found that the heating was not running on the morning of Tuesday 18th October. Called Tommy who gave instructions of how to determine the problem which was traced to the pump. Tommy came to our premises within an hour to obtain the details of the pump to order a replacement. The pump was then replaced as soon as it was available on the morning of Friday 21st October by Tommy, repair successful, heating back up and running. Tommy also carried out a service on the boiler once the pump was fitted, the Service Certificate was provided almost immediately via iPhone App.

Bath tap and waste replacement.

Tommy was recommended by a friend as we needed a new boiler. He replaced our boiler in February and did an impeccable job. There were pipes replaced and Tommy did a fantastic job. He also fitted a NEST to the boiler and showed me how to use that and the boiler and was reassured that he was happy to answer any questions if needed. Since replacing the boiler Tommy has fitted a new shower and today solved our leaking taps. Tommy found replacement bath taps to match our existing taps and fitted them with a professional and friendly service. Replace bathroom toilet and wash basin.

Ceramics chosen and ordered with a view to disabled person by Tommy and delivered and fixed within two days of inspecting what had to be done in the bathroom. He returned the following week to complete a cosmetic finish to the rear of the toilet cistern. Tommy was recommended by a neighbour and he certainly turned out to be prompt very efficient and understanding of our needs. The completed work was very neat and just what we wanted. He was very tidy and he cleaned up everything before he left. It is rare to be able to give maximum rating to a tradesmen but Tommy deserves it. Only thing I would suggest is he should consider issuing an invoice on completion automatically. It gives a more professional conclusion.

Repair of a faulty tap and toilet cistern flush.

Following good reviews on Checked and Vetted I recently contacted Tommy Burns regarding two non urgent plumbing issues.He responded promptly to my call and assessed the jobs. Job 1 was a problem tap which he advised could be repaired with a part if I could find out from the kitchen fitters the name of the manufacturer or a probable cheaper option to just replace the tap. I purchased a new tap of my choice then contacted Tommy who came and fitted it for a modest price in spite of a number of difficulties due to an awkward location. Job two was a faulty intermittent cistern flush which initially Tommy was unable to identify the type of replacement fitting.Not to be beaten he took some photos on his mobile which he sent off to his supplier who was eventually able to identify a suitable replacement. The part was ordered and fitted promptly for a modest cost. I would not hesitate to recommend the use of Tommy Burns services which were excellent with all work being carried out in a clean, efficient and respectful manner.

I have met several plumbers and it was very easy to choose Tommy out of them and I was absolutely right with that choice. He already impressed me with the quality of his detailed quote for the work which continued over to realization as well. He simply made an amazing job. He was always on time always on budget. I am saying always, as I did workwith him on several occasions due to the amount of work needed to be done. He repaired my boiler, rehung/changed the radiators, cut some unused gas pipes, fitted a new kitchen sink, fitted new washing machine and dish washer, completely redone the bathroom( replaced the sink, the tub and installed and new shower unit. He was very professional and really knows his stuff. He talked us through the different options and helped us understand which radiators would be best for our needs. I always like to hire tradespeople via a word of mouth recommendation - but as a newbie to the North East, this wasn't an option open to me. So instead, I had to cross my fingers and hope. After doing what research I could on the internet, I decided to contact Tommy based on his high review rating - and thankfully the Gods were smiling on me. I couldn't have found anyone better. My new property is an old house which needed a timer installed on the boiler, some bath taps tightened and a full gas fire service. Tommy quickly evaluated the three jobs, and much to my surprise, was able to complete the first two there and then! He returned a few days later and got my gas fire working again, leaving my home neat, tidy and warm! The price was very reasonable, and I certainly didn't feel stung! On first visit to quote for the job Tommy took great care in determining the scope of the work required and explaining what would be required. The price eventually quoted was well below British Gas but was not quite the cheapest, however decided to go with Tommy as gained considerable confidence from the initial discussions. I was recommended Tommy Burns by a friend and he carried out a small boiler repair while we were away on holiday.When we returned as the weather was hot we only wanted hot water and not central heating but we could only have hot water if the heating was on as well,Tommy came on Monday to look at the problem and fitted a new contol unit which we wanted anyway but the fault was still there he discovered that the wiring to the system was completely incorrect which we thought had been put right by annother plumber 3 years ago but was not. Tommy spent a long time carefully re-wiring the system which was a real challenge but he succeeded. I cannot recommend Tommy Burns more highly for his friendly and highly professional work at a reasonable codt.

Tommy completed a very thorough service of the boiler, in terms of both cleaning the system and testing it with electronic equipment. Written report of the service was given to me. He also installed an external water tap. Good price for both jobs. Good honest bloke who is happy to talk through what he was doing and none of my questions or requests were a trouble. Fixed 3 leaks and re fitted radiator.

Turned up on time and fitted new stop cock which increased water pressure. Re-sealed bathroom sink that had just been fitted recently. Re-fitted radiator and after much cleaning and coaxing managed to get my old boiler system working again. Very reasonable price considering he didn't get away till 7pm on a Friday evening. I would recommend Tommy to any one who needs a professional plumber and I will be getting an estimate from him to fit a combi-boiler as I have every confidence he will do the job properly.

Promised to replace valve next day but in the meantime gave boiler thorough clean and service (and got the heating on). Replaced the valve the next day.
